Job Description
Duties
- Practice safe long-distance driving habits
- Responsible for Pre and Post trip inspections
- Follow all state and national large truck safety regulations and standards
- Deliver perishable goods and unload trucks at destination
- Maintain logs as needed
- Ensure cargo is secure
- Confirm box count matches shipping documents
- Report any accidents or vehicle issues encountered while driving
- Take payments if necessary
- Keep interior of vehicle clean of debris and clutter;
- Maneuver truck and cargo into a variety of parking spaces and loading docks;
- Prior to returning, call the company to identify any other pickups;
- All other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must have a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Must have a clean driving record with no recent moving violations
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Knowledgeable with GPS systems and/or maps
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
Education / Training
- High School graduate or GED preferred; additional truck driving school certifications or education a plus
- Class A
- Basic Reading, Writing and Math skills.
Related Experience/RequirementsMinimum two-year previous professional driving experience or related experience.
Physical RequirementsMust be able to perform the following physical activities: Job requires workers to lift up to 60 lbs. must be able to: sit long periods of time, step, climb, balance, squat, kneel, bend and reach above shoulders as needed.
