Litigation Paralegal - Litigation, Compliance, Investigations
At Lightfoot, Franklin and White, we are seeking a dedicated Litigation Paralegal to join our Birmingham office. As a Lightfoot Litigation Paralegal you will have the opportunity to work a wide range of cases with our experienced legal team. The ideal candidate will work as an essential member of the team providing comprehensive support in all aspects of litigation. This role requires a strong understanding of litigation procedures, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work with and collaborate closely with attorneys and firm staff to ensure client-focused, efficient administration of cases.
Responsibilities:
Case Management: Organize and maintain electronic and physical case files, track deadlines, and ensure accurate document filing.
Court Filings: Prepare and file legal documents with state and federal courts, monitor court calendars, and notify attorneys of upcoming hearings.
Subpoena Management: Prepare, serve, and track subpoenas for witnesses, records, and evidence, ensuring compliance with laws.
Discovery Preparation: Assist in preparing discovery materials, including document collection, review, and production.
Document Preparation: Draft and format legal documents for depositions, hearings, motions, and discovery requests.
Trial Support: Prepare trial notebooks, organize exhibits, and assist with trial logistics.
Client Communication: Interact professionally with clients, witnesses, and third parties to provide case updates and schedule meetings.
Expense Handling and Billing: Submit invoices for case expenses, maintain billing records, and ensure compliance with office procedures.
Legal Compliance and Confidentiality: Stay informed about relevant laws and regulations, handling sensitive information with discretion.
Research and Analysis: Conduct legal research to support litigation strategies, analyzing case law, statutes, and regulations relevant to ongoing cases. Provide comprehensive reports on findings to assist attorneys in case preparation and strategy. Research and analyze evidence, potential legal defenses, and regulatory compliance issues to support case development.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree, or Certificate in paralegal studies or related field.
Experience: Litigation experience is required , including familiarity with court procedures and document management.
Skills: Strong organizational skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
