Description:

As the full-time Executive Director (ED) of CASA, you will oversee the organization’s day-to-day work and lead our outstanding team of staff and volunteers. The ED works closely with the Board of Directors and reports directly to the Board Chair. We are looking for a dynamic, multi-talented, strategic leader with extensive experience managing a diverse team and protecting the rights of vulnerable communities and a strong commitment to the mission and vision of CASA of Solano County. The ED is responsible for the fulfillment of CASA’s mission by leading our work, including within: Board management; programs; administration; human resources; fundraising; and community outreach. Anticipated start date: April 1, 2025.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Board Management

  • Work with Board of Directors to develop strategic goals and objectives; provide regular progress reports to the Board.
  • Develop organizational budget in collaboration with Board Executive Committee and oversee administration of Board-approved budget.
  • Work with the Chair to administer the work of the Board, including meeting planning, Board member recruitment, and development of Board policies.

Program Management

  • In partnership with the Program Manager and Outreach Coordinator, develop and maintain a systematic approach to recruiting, training, and supporting volunteer advocates.
  • Ensure compliance with CASA’s program policies, practices, and legal requirements.
  • Foster collaborative and positive relationships among CASA staff, volunteers, the children we serve, and community partners.
  • Serve as CASA of Solano County’s key point of contact with California CASA, National CASA, and local CASA programs.

Administration

  • In partnership with the Office Manager, develop and maintain strong administrative policies and practices, including legal filings.
  • Oversee CASA’s financial management, including accounting/bookkeeping, ensuring compliance with best practices and legal requirements.
  • Oversee operation of the office, including facilities, contracts, and vendor agreements.

Human Resources

  • Create and maintain a culture of trust and belonging through a focus on staff wellbeing, empowerment, and open communication.
  • Set clear, bold, and measurable goals for staff; oversee annual performance evaluation process.
  • Hire, train, and direct employees in the implementation of CASA’s mission, strategic direction, and organizational processes.
  • Establish robust personnel policies and practices, including staff benefits, grievance procedures, and opportunities for growth.

Fundraising

  • Develop and execute CASA’s annual fundraising plan.
  • Maintain positive relationships with current and potential funders, including government grant administrators, foundation staff, individual donors, and corporate sponsors.
  • Oversee grants management, including development of proposals and reports, interaction with funders, and donor tracking.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of fundraising events, working closely with staff, consultants, and the Board.

Community Outreach

  • Develop and implement an annual outreach/communications plan including goals for community visibility, fundraising, and volunteer recruitment.
  • Maintain a strong presence in the community, through participation in public events, networking, and media interviews; serve as CASA’s main spokesperson.
  • Build a strong online presence for CASA, through social media and our website; manage the consultant webmaster.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Five (5) years of successful experience as a staff supervisor.
  • Five (5) years of experience working within a CASA organization or other non-profit setting.
  • Detailed knowledge of the key components of non-profit management, including: Board management; program management; administration; human resources; fundraising; and community outreach.
  • Knowledge and experience developing and implementing strategic plans.
  • Experience serving as an organizational spokesperson, including giving speeches, serving on public panels, and providing media interviews.
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license, maintain state minimum levels of auto insurance, a clean driving record, the ability to be covered by the agency’s insurance carrier, and reliable transportation.
  • Must pass a Department of Justice background check upon hire.
